Online, there are people I can only label as “emotional rapists”. They worm their way into your heart, via your emotions then drain you dry. But, in order to save yourself you must be able to spot them!
The two of you seem to make a connection. You begin to communicate with each other, almost exclusively. Even though it’s only been a couple of weeks it seems like you’ve known each other forever.
By this point, you have made the mistake of sharing your emotional past, present and your hopes for the future with this total stranger.
That is how the “connection” was made so quickly. In order to spot an emotional rapist you have to know your “soft spots” and protect them with your life.
The emotional rapists asks lots of questions regarding your “thoughts”, “ideas”, “feelings”, etc. By asking these heartfelt questions, you begin to feel like they are your “soul mate”. They don’t possess any special skills. You handed your most private thoughts, ideas and feelings to this stranger, on a silver platter!
Once they have this key to who you are, they begin to manipulate you. Because of the information you’ve shared with them, they now know your weaknesses and your strengths.
They now have the ability to push all of the right buttons, they know your soft spots, your sore spots, what makes you cry, and what can literally bring you to your knees.
Most people would say, “just stop communicating with them! Just leave them alone!” But you can’t...why? Because they have so much of you...
My advice? When it is apparent that they only wanted this information in order to have an “edge”...a “tool”...? End all communications immediately! So what if they have a part of you. Without you, what they have is useless.
As soon as you spot an emotional rapist, run...run...run! Then go find someone that is worthy of you and all of you...inside and out! They are out there...trust me. Good luck...and have a blast!
